Construction work has begun with support from the army

Over the past two weeks, the Swiss Army has successfully completed the initial construction on the Olympic ski jump site. This work is a key part of the extensive infrastructure measures that must be completed before the onset of winter.

Over the past weeks and with a total of 30 army personnel, the Disaster Relief Readiness Battalion (Kata Hi Ber Bat) and the Logistics Readiness Battalion (Log Ber Bat), have carried out material transports and constructed structures such as the VIP grandstand, the backstage area for concerts, as well as platforms for speakers and TV commentators as part of the construction work. Completing the infrastructure on time before the first snowfall is crucial for the smooth running of the World Championships. In November and February, the soldiers will carry out additional construction work.

"We are very grateful for the army’s support with its know-how and expertise as we prepare for the World Championships," says Guido Mittner, Head of Infrastructure for the Freestyle World Championships. "The collaboration with the army is invaluable to us. With their technical knowledge and specialized vehicles, we can overcome challenges that we would not be able to manage on our own."
