Man muss nicht unbedingt Maler oder Dichter sein, um die Einzigartigkeit des Val Fex festzuhalten. Dem Schmied Roger Rominger gelingt das auch mit Hammer und Amboss. Jedes seiner Damastmesser ist ein Kunstwerk. Und jedes hat eine Fexer Seele.
Sometimes a farmer, sometimes a blacksmith, Roger grew up in the Fex Valley. Today, he lives with his family of four back at the "Chesa Rominger," his parents' former farm. Val Fex is in his blood: he perceives the seasons, moods, scents, and the beauty of nature with an almost instinctive awareness. To support the family, his wife Martina works outside the farm part-time (80%). Besides Martina's work and the Damascus steel knives, the Romingers have a third source of income thanks to the farm. "We couldn't live on my Fex Damascus steel knives alone. It takes about a week to complete a blade. Then there's the crafting of the handles from hard, precious materials like desert ironwood, walnut, or mammoth molars."
