Super Friday with Three Swiss Gold Medals

Slopestyle Freeski
The Slopestyle finals for snowboarders and freeski athletes took place today on Corvatsch. In the women’s freeski event, Switzerland’s Mathilde Gremaud delivered a standout performance in front of her home crowd, securing the gold medal. Austria’s Lara Wolf took silver, while Canada’s Megan Oldham claimed bronze. In the men’s competition, Team USA celebrated a double podium, with Alex Hall finishing third and Mac Forehand taking second place. Norway’s Birk Ruud put down an outstanding run to claim gold.

After a challenging year, Mathilde Gremaud was thrilled with her victory at the home World Championships: “Five weeks ago, I wasn’t even sure if I’d be able to compete, which makes it all the more incredible to have just put down one of my best Slopestyle runs.”

Birk Ruud also reflected on his win: “This is a special moment for me. I’ve rediscovered my passion for skiing and am focusing more on the experience rather than just the results – and that makes it even more enjoyable.”

Slopestyle Snowboard
In the women’s Snowboard Slopestyle event, New Zealand’s Zoi Sadowski Synnott claimed the top spot, followed by Japan’s Kokomo Murase in second and Reira Iwabuchi in third.

Meanwhile, in the men’s final, Canada’s Liam Brearley took the gold, with China's Su Yiming securing silver and the USA’s Oliver Martin rounding out the podium in third place.

Ski cross
At the same time, the Skicross finals for both women and men took place on Corviglia, where the best Skicross athletes battled it out in a thrilling race for the medals, keeping the crowd on the edge of their seats with every turn and jump. The gold medal in the women’s event went to Switzerland’s Fanny Smith, while Canada’s Courtney Hoffos took silver and Germany’s Daniela Maier earned bronze. In the men’s race, Switzerland’s Ryan Regez claimed first place in a gripping race, with Germany’s Tobias Mueller finishing second and Japan’s Ryo Sugai rounding out the podium in third.

It was an emotional victory for Fanny Smith: “It’s very emotional, and I’m beyond happy with my performance at the home World Championships.” With a clear strategy and strong motivation, she was able to maintain her focus and secure the gold medal.

Dual Moguls
The Dual Moguls finals were also held on Corviglia. In the men’s event, the epic duel between Canada’s Mikael Kingsbury and Japan’s Ikuma Horishima ended with Kingsbury taking the win, while Australia's Matt Garaham secured the bronze medal. Kingsbury reflects on his win: “This isn’t how I wanted to win, but I’m still very happy with the gold medal and the way I was able to finish the races with a strong performance.”

In the women’s event, the USA’s Jaelin Kauf triumphed in her duel against fellow American Tess Johnson, while Kazakhstan's Anastassiya Gorodko landed third place. “It feels a bit like redemption after the Single Moguls”, said the winner of the gold medal.
